We’re excited to share some big news with our Doghook community — we were recently featured in the San Diego Business Journal, and the article did an incredible job capturing what motivates us every single day: keeping dogs safe and helping pet professionals create worry-free spaces for the animals they care for.

A Small Start That Grew Into Something Big
The article shares the story of how Brian Hoffman created the first Doghook after witnessing a dog break free from an old tie-off and run into traffic — a moment that shaped our entire mission. What started as a handmade stainless-steel hook on a single storefront has now become a safety standard used by vet clinics, groomers, shelters, and pet-friendly businesses across the country.

Growing Faster Than Ever
As the article highlights, Doghook’s growth accelerated after expanding the team in early 2024. With new talent across operations and e-commerce, we’ve been able to scale with intention, improve our systems, and reach new communities. In just one year, monthly sales jumped from around 300 Doghooks to over 1,000 — and today, more than 45,000 Doghooks are installed nationwide. Every one of those hooks represents a safer experience for a dog somewhere.
Always Improving, Always Listening
The San Diego Business Journal also highlighted how customer feedback drives our innovation. From clip-on models to lighter-weight versions designed for partners like Chewy, we’re constantly refining what we build. And we’re excited about new products currently in development — from adjustable leashes to signage that helps businesses communicate dog-friendly best practices. Giving back is still at the heart of everything we do, with over 1,000 Doghooks donated to shelters and service-dog organizations like Paws for Purple Hearts.
